Bangkok bakeries guide: where to go for every kind of craving

Six Bangkok bakeries, picked from what the city's food writers say about them, and sorted by the feeling you are after, not by a ranking.

Short answer: the best bakery in Bangkok is the one that matches your mood that morning. For a croissant that shatters, go to Amantee near Chong Nonsi. For old-Bangkok kaya bread, D.K. Bakery on Silom Road. For Thai flavours tucked into brioche, Brioche from Heaven in Silom. For a brunch date, Holey Artisan Bakery on Sukhumvit Soi 31. For a slow garden morning, Conkey's Bakery in Ekkamai. For a whole lazy afternoon, Landhaus in Ari.

You know the feeling. A paper bag that is still warm. The first bite that leaves crumbs on your top and you do not care. A bakery is one of the few places in a big city where a small thing can turn a whole day around.

Bangkok has a lot of them now, and lists that rank them from one to twenty never tell you the thing you actually want to know: where should I go today, for the mood I am in? So this guide is sorted by craving.

How we picked these six

We read what Bangkok's food writers have said about the city's bakeries, mainly Time Out Bangkok's bakery guide (November 2024) and Friday Bangkok's venue pages (July 2025), and chose six independent bakeries that are each the clear answer to one kind of craving. Every description below sticks to what those writers say. Under each bakery there is one price, with where and when we read it, so you know roughly what to bring. Prices, opening hours and menus change, so check each bakery's own page or map listing before you cross town.

Ondine is our bakery, and it is not on this list. You will find a note about us at the end.

When you want a croissant that shatters: Amantee

Some mornings call for something flaky and serious. Friday Bangkok describes Amantee as a French-owned bakery tucked away in Chongnonsee, with croissants "that could have been bought at a quaint side street in Paris", plus pillowy brioches, sugary palmiers and crusty baguettes. The same page warns that its bakes often run out and that waiting to order is normal.

Go early, go hungry, and take the croissant somewhere you can eat it slowly.

Price check: Time Out listed Amantee's palmier at ฿70 in November 2024.

When you miss old Bangkok: D.K. Bakery

This is the one for nostalgia. Time Out Bangkok called D.K. Bakery one of the city's oldest bakeries in November 2024, saying it had been open for nearly six decades. It is known for soft kaya bread sold in boxes and for roll cakes, and Time Out wrote that one of its breads was made only 20 pieces a day, so it pays to be early. You will find it on Silom Road, near the Maha Uma Devi Temple.

Bring a box home for someone older in the family. It is the kind of taste that starts a story.

Price check: Time Out listed the kaya bread box set at ฿130 in November 2024.

When you want Thai flavours in a French coat: Brioche from Heaven

For the days you want something familiar and new at the same time. Time Out says Brioche from Heaven is run by Thananya "Gai" Kaikaew of Iron Chef Thailand, who turns classic brioche into Thai-inspired treats, such as a coconut brioche. Friday Bangkok's July 2025 pick was the caramel pecan brioche and the yuzu tart. It is in Silom, a short walk from BTS Chong Nonsi.

Share one. Friday Bangkok calls them "almost too pretty to eat", so bring your camera.

Price check: Yuzu Tart, ฿160 on Wongnai x LINE MAN, read 12 Oct 2026.

When it is a brunch date: Holey Artisan Bakery

When the bakery is really an excuse to sit with a friend for two hours. Time Out (November 2025) praises Holey's sourdough, croissants and "serious sandwich game", with a flagship on Sukhumvit Soi 31 and branches in Suan Phlu and Ruam Rudee. Their tip: go mid-morning, when the loaves are still warm.

Order something to share and something just for you.

Price check: Quiche Lorraine, ฿120 on Holey's own menu, read 12 Oct 2026.

When you need a slow, sunny morning: Conkey's Bakery

For the weekend you promised yourself you would not rush. Friday Bangkok tells how Michael Conkey's bakery in Ekkamai grew over a decade from supplying sourdough and baguettes to many of the city's restaurants into its own shop and café. Their highlights are sourdough croissants, savoury meat pies and fruit-topped tarts, and Travel + Leisure Asia describes eating outdoors in a garden setting.

Leave your phone in your bag for the first ten minutes. You will thank yourself.

Price check: PLAIN CROISSANT, ฿100 on Wongnai x LINE MAN, read 12 Oct 2026.

When you want a whole lazy afternoon: Landhaus

When one pastry will turn into lunch, and lunch into the afternoon. Friday Bangkok calls Landhaus an Austrian-Bavarian bakery in Ari for pillowy brioche, chewy pretzels and the brezel, which it describes as a cross between a croissant and a pretzel, with full breakfast and brunch plates and plenty of space for family and friends. Time Out calls the setting cosy and country-style.

Bring the people you never get enough time with.

Price check: Salt Brezel, ฿80 on Wongnai x LINE MAN, read 12 Oct 2026.

A small bakery-hopping kit

  • Go early for the famous ones. Two of the six are known for running out or being best warm in the morning.
  • Check hours first. Some bakeries close one day a week, and hours move.
  • Bring a tote. You will buy more than you planned. Everyone does.
  • Pair them by area. D.K. Bakery and Brioche from Heaven are both in Silom, Amantee is near Chong Nonsi, Conkey's is in Ekkamai, and Holey's flagship is on Sukhumvit Soi 31.

And when you would rather it came to you

Some days you want the bakery feeling without the traffic. That is what Ondine is for.

We make madeleines, the small French cakes with a ridged shell on one side and a round hump on the other (what a French madeleine is). We bake every morning and deliver across central Bangkok by Grab Express (roughly Bang Sue to Bang Na, and Thon Buri to Bang Kapi), Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, often the same day. There is no shop to visit. A box comes to the door in an Ondine logo bag with a ribbon and a wish card, so it can be a present or a quiet treat for yourself.

If you want to know what a good madeleine looks like before you try ours, start with how to spot a good one. When you are ready, see the boxes. If a batch is gone when you look, you can put your name down for the next one.
